Warehousing fringe talks robot tech and precarious work

“The impact of digitalisation, automation and just in time deliveries can be clearly seen on the health of workers.”

That’s from a participant at this afternoon’s warehouse and terminal workers’ fringe at #ETF2017 which brought together union representatives from across Europe who have been involved in the ETF/ITF work in this area. There were calls for an effective joint strategy on engaging precarious workers to strengthen the presence of trade unions in warehouse environments and for education and action on the stress caused by the pressure on performance that new technology is generating from employers.
